Lillian Forziat is a graduate of the State University of New York at Farmingdale, and a Charter Member of The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA). She is a Fellow Member of the American Artists Professional League (AAPL),and a Past Board Member of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art  Club (CLWAC) both in Manhattan (NYC). She is a juried member of the National Oil and Acrylics Painter's Society (NOAPS), the Art League of Nassau County (ALNC) in New York. She holds Associate Membership in Oil Painter of America (OPA) and American Women Artists (AWA). Lillian has served as a member of the Executive Board of the Floral Park Art League (FPAL) in New York, and has been called upon as a jurist to evaluate and to critique paintings presented by current artists.

"My father's passion was gardening. Spring through Fall our garden was continuously blooming with roses, camellias, peonies, azaleas, rhododendrons, and the like. I was deeply impressed by this beauty. To this day the sight and sweet scent of a rose makes my heart sing.

When I started to paint, it seemed only natural that I would gravitate toward my great inspiration - flowers. It is gratifying to me to gather some flowers from my own garden, to arrange them, and then to set about  trying to capture their likeness, their essence. Each flower is like a portrait, a unique tiny face, a miracle in Nature.

Over the years my muse has expanded to include all of nature, landscapes, seascapes, seashells, folks in serene settings. I try to capture the beauty that I see around me onto my canvasses in the hope of uplifting my viewers in the course of their daily lives."

Her oil paintings embrace a gentle juxtaposition of traditional realism and impressionism. With a style reminiscent of more traditional artists, her paintings strive to capture the subtle essences of both living subjects and human-fabricated objects in quiescent settings. Her oil paintings have been accepted into numerous fine art exhibitions and festivals in the New York Metropolitan/Long Island region, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, and the United Kingdom. They have received numerous accolades including many Best in Show awards.
